Grottaferrata Abbey is known as the Greek Abbey of Saint Nilus It was
founded by a goup of monks from Calabria. The monks here follow the teaching of
St. Nilus and St. Bartholomew. They are Catholics of the Byzantine- Greek rite.
Grottaferrata Abbey is the last of the many Byzantine-Greek monasteries.
